CROZES-HERMITAGE

DOMAINE LES HAUTS DE MERCUROL

Elegancy of the structure

Les Hauts de Mercurol estate spread through 20 ha in the CROZES HERMITAGE appellation, on one side from Saviaux to la Roche de Glun and on the other side on the Côteau de la Baume terroir located behind le Tower standing above the village of Mercurol. A hectare of white varieties, partly on the Pends hillside, completes the diversity. The very varied soils and the altitude of our various plots give our wines the distinctive elegance of the great wines from Crozes Hermitage.

In the vineyard

A work of precision

Planted with Syrah, Marsanne and Roussanne, our vineyard is split into 2 islets spread over complementary terroirs. The resulting diversity of soils and exposure offers us a palette to create perfectly balanced blends. In a logic of respecting the living and the environment, we try to limit the tilling to promote a major biodiversity and grow grass every other row to prevent soil erosion on the hillsides. Finally, we treat with organic-farming certified products exclusively. Insecticides are banned and replaced by pheromone traps, chemical weeding is prohibited and the space between plants is worked mechanically. Marsanne and Roussane for Crozes Hermitage Blanc, single varietal wine of Syrah for the reds, we vinify each plot separately in order to nuance our ageing and blending process.

«We take time to plan each action, to weigh every decision. Wine needs time to reveal its true potential and its origins.»

In the cellar

Winemaking and ageing

Patiently and delicately, we let time operate and reveal the potential of our wines. The way we do things is not to mask our wines with oak but to reveal white flowers and honey in the Crozes Blancs and red fruits in the Crozes rouges.
