ROUCAS (Rock in Provençal dialect) evokes the large rock lying in the middle of the estate’s vineyard, which once detached from the mountain while sparing the sheep pens that have since disappeared. Only a chapel remains upon which we have built our home under the aegis of Saint Peter, he who holds the keys to Paradise and who is often called upon to prevent bad weather and catastrophes.

The Grenache old vines (over 50 years old) perfectly blend with the low-yield Syrah.

50% Grenache on clay-limestone soils

50% Syrah on blue marl and very calcareous black marl.

The estate’s name comes from the Porvençal poet Pradas who praised highly the beauty of Provence.

The Mourvèdre variety is planted on blue marl and brings a great freshness and a capacity for long-keeping to this Gigonda on the foothills of the Dentelles.

50% Grenache on red clay soils

Provençal saint from the 12th century who is called upon during a pilgrimage every May to bring back the bountiful rain.

He is also said to make water surge. The son of a shepherd, he brought his beasts to graze by the foothills of the Dentelles. The springs present all over the estate in this arid landscape are somewhat of a miracle!
